Jai Ho!  This is the title of the song at the end of Slumdog Millionaire, which also won an Oscar!  Jai Ho means, “may victory be yours”, and victory was Jamal’s in the film that won the Oscar, Slumdog Millionaire.  First of all, if you have not seen this movie yet, go see it!  I saw it Tuesday and, as corny as it sounds, I have not stopped thinking about it since.  It is one of those movies that just makes you realize how lucky you are to be alive and well, and to be able to do things that I personally have been taking for granted all my life, like attend school.  There are millions are children in the world who would kill to be in my shoes.  Slumdog Millionaire shows you a side of the world that most people are not familiar with.  It illustrates what the slums in India are like, and how the kids who are born into that life are treated.  The film made me want to travel to India and just adopt one of the kids so that they can have as great a life as I have.  It opens your eyes and allows you to think about your blessings, and makes you feel compassion for the people in the world who are less fortunate then yourself.  I for one have not really thought about how people in less fortunate countries live and the obstacles they have to overcome daily, and at such a young age.  If the kids in Slumdog Millionaire can fight for their lives and make it out okay (well, most of them do), then it reassures me that I am okay and my life is going just fine, even when I am stressed with school or other issues.  I might be an exception, since I cry pretty much during any film and even sometimes during commercials, but this film moved me and touched me more then any other has in a very long time.  It even ended with a Bollywood style dance (see attached video) that is just great!  I have downloaded the song and watched the dance multiple times.  To me, it illustrates through song and dance to just celebrate life and every once in a while stop and reflect on how blessed you are and how great your life is.
